2. Gideon Switzer² Riedy (John Gideon¹) (#126) was born Newcastle West Co. Limerick 25 AUG 1819. Gideon died 20 FEB 1877 Dalhousie, India, at 57 years of age.⁽¹⁾

He married Melicina Anna Cobbe St Michans, Dublin, 4 SEP 1848.⁽²⁾ (Melicina Anna Cobbe is #125.) Melicina was born Dublin, Ireland 21 DEC 1829. Melicina was the daughter of Joseph Cobbe and cousin of Viscount Tracy. Melicina died 1 OCT 1906 Quetta, Baluchistan, at 76 years of age. She resided 4 Courts, Dublin 1 AUG 1848.

He was baptized Newcastle West Co. Limerick, 12 SEP 1819. Religion: Church of Ireland.⁽³⁾ Gideon served in the military Templemore, Ireland, 13 APR 1844. He emigrated, 1855. Point of origin: Sussex?. Army Schoolmaster 35th Royal Sussex Regt. Recruited at Templemore 13th April 1844. Served in Ireland, England and Mauritius, Burma, India/Pakistan. Noted as Hospital Sgt. in 1855. The 35th left India in 1867 and he is down as Embarkation Sgt. It appears he retired at this time staying in India.
