77. Philip⁵ Shier (Jacob⁴, Jacob³, Nicholas², Adam¹) reference 3720 (#3714) was born in Court Matress, Co.limerick, Ireland August 9, 1809. Philip died October 21, 1880 in Cannington, Ontario, at 71 years of age.

He married Mary Dawson January 17, 1839. (Mary Dawson reference 3721) (Mary Dawson is #3715.) Came to Canada with his parents in 1835. His deed to Brock xiv:5 NE1/4 is dated April 19, 1845. In Limerick he had belonged to the Irish constabulary. In 1837 on the occasion of the Canadian Rebellion he was made an Ensign by the Lieutenant Governor and authorized to muster a company. He gathered a hundren men and with them proceeded to York; on his arrival he found the rebellion already subjued. Buried in Cannington Necropolis.

Philip Shier and Mary Dawson had the following children:

207 iv. James D. Shier reference 3728 (#3722) was born in Brock Township, Ontario July 10, 1845. He married Elizabeth Jackson. (Elizabeth Jackson reference 3729) (Elizabeth Jackson is #3723.)

211 viii. Sarah Shier reference 3735 (#3729) was born in Brock Township, Ontario February 21, 1854. She married William Kelly. (William Kelly reference 3736) (William Kelly is #3730.)

212 ix. Emma Shier reference 3737 (#3731) was born in Brock Township, Ontario January 28, 1856. She married Richard Dukelow. (Richard Dukelow reference 3738) (Richard Dukelow is #3732.)

213 x. Rebecca Shier reference 3739 (#3733) was born in Brock Township, Ontario September 21, 1857. Rebecca died 1938 in Cannington, Ontario, at 80 years of age. She married John King. (John King reference 3740) (John King is #3734.) John was born January 30, 1850. John died April 30, 1931 in Cannington, Ontario, at 81 years of age.

215 xii. Martha Shier reference 3743 (#3737) was born in Brock Township, Ontario December 31, 1861. Martha died ABT. 1862.

216 xiii. Samuel Shier reference 3744 (#3738) was born in Brock Township, Ontario January 29, 1864. He married Susan Shier. (Susan Shier reference 3745) (Susan Shier is #3739.)
